Hello there!
My name is Zack. I dream of making futuristic biotechnology into reality.
In my current role at Retro Bio, I build Frontier Technologies to discover and enhance therapies to extend healthy human lifespan. We are always looking for agentic individuals.
I’ve also written about the tech tree for measuring everything in biology, the alchemy of the epigenome, and the biological future of humanity.
I previously completed my PhD with Jason Buenrostro and Fei Chen at Harvard and the Broad Institute. There, I co-invented methods to reveal the hidden secrets of the (epi)genome, including slide-DNA-seq, in situ genome sequencing, and expansion genome sequencing.
Why is this website named chianglab.bio? Until 2025, my dream was to run my own research lab at a university. Faculty hiring freezes and our $2.5M federal grant being cancelled compelled me to explore alternative options, yet I decided to keep the domain name as a reminder to always pursue the science that is the most meaningful to me.
You can find me posting memes on the bird site, as well as on LinkedIn (begrudgingly). Please reach out if you’re also interested in biotech and longevity, or thinking about making a similar jump out of academia!
